All goods are offered subject to availability and remain the property of Cooden Cellars or its associates until payment is received in full.
It is possible to generate a complete (that is, containing all products) or partial Wine List (for example those of a region, appellation or producer) from this site as a report at any time that can then be printed out. Whilst we endeavour to keep the information in our List on this site as up to date as possible any printed copies may quickly become outdated and we cannot vouch for the accuracy or applicability of such reports after the date it was generated.
We adhere to the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 and to the good practice guidance issued by East Sussex Trading Standards as well as being one of their approved ‘Buy With Confidence’ traders.
Orders may be placed by using the shopping basket facility on this site or by any of the following methods:
We would be more than happy to discuss your requirements with you before you place an order if you wish, again by any of the above methods, or via the special feedback facilities on this site.
When an order is placed, a confirmation of the order will be emailed to you. Please note, this will be automatically generated and may be rejected by some spam filters. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please inform us and we will send one manually.
All retail prices quoted include UK duty and UK Value Added Tax (VAT) applicable at the time of payment.
If any item is not in stock, or we hold insufficient stock to fulfil your order immediately we will endeavour to inform you promptly. Most items are easily re-stocked and we will advise you accordingly when it will be available to complete your order - this will usually be within seven days in most cases. If any item is unavailable we will normally try to discuss with you alternative or similar items for you to consider. However, at peak times of the year, we do reserve the right to replace out of stock items with another of equal or greater value.
We always try to ensure that wines are of the vintages quoted on our list. However if one vintage becomes exhausted, the next available vintage will normally be substituted for it once we have tasted and re-selected it.
If you are unhappy with any substitutions you receive we will arrange collection at our cost.
Payment may be made online by credit or debit card via the checkout process as part of your shopping basket. Such payments will be effected through our secure transaction partner, WorldPay.
Otherwise, payment can be made to or in the shop by cash, cheque (with bankers card number) or by debit or credit card - most cards are taken. If you wish to pay by the latter method over the 'phone we will need to know:
You must also confirm to us that you (and the recipient of the wine if different) are over 18 years of age. Proof of age may be requested before goods are handed over to the recipient.
A receipt will be issued to the payer's address immediately.
Depending on the value of the order and its destination delivery may or may not be charged.
Delivery is free locally, defined as within the following postcodes:
Elsewhere on the UK mainland delivery is free for orders over £250, otherwise the first case (12 bottles) is £10 and £5 for each additional case.
Smaller quantities and destinations outside UK mainland are dispatched at cost - please contact us for a quote.
Delivery is by hand via one of our own vans if local, or by special courier if not. Provided all items are in stock and orders are placed before midday, it is possible to dispatch to the courier so that delivery may be made by 4 pm the following day. Otherwise, delivery would normally be within 48 hours unless a weekend or bank holiday intervenes. It is always advisable to supply a telephone number contact at the destination address in case there are difficulties. All couriered parcels are made of strengthened cardboard and specially designed with bottle spaces that hold bottles securely for transportation.
If you do not receive goods within 10 days of placing your order, please let us know.
You may cancel an order, or any part of it, within 7 working days of receipt of the goods and a full refund will be given within 30 days of the cancellation. If the relevant goods are not returned within 21 days of the cancellation we reserve the right to collect them, but deduct a collection charge from the refund.
You may, however, return undamaged goods for whatever reason within 14 days of receipt and exchange them for other goods of equal value.
Please notify us within 3 working days of receipt if goods are received in a damaged condition and we would be pleased to replace them if required.
Cancellations of tickets for tastings, dinners or modules for the Wine School should be made as soon as possible. If we are notified up to 3 weeks before the event we will offer a full refund, thereafter we will exchange the tickets for other goods of equal value.
Sale or Return arrangements are possible within the post codes given above. All such orders must include a minimum of £150 of Wine, Champagne, Port or Spirits. A maximum of 20% of the original order quantity may be returned and must be in a re-saleable condition (that is, they must be free of damage and without distortions to the labels caused by immersion in water). Goods must be returned to our shop in Compton Street, Eastbourne
Customers purchasing or ordering wines from us may hire glasses for their function. It would be helpful to have as much notice as possible. For practical reasons relating to limited quantities we will only release glasses just before the event. All glasses should be returned cleaned within two days of the function. Breakages, damage or loss will be charged at £1.50 per glass.
All information (including credit card details) is sent and received using the latest in secure e-commerce software. Cooden Cellars will continue to use new security protocols and software as they become available.
It is against the law to sell or indeed supply intoxicating substances to persons under 18 years of age in the UK. By placing an order you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. If our couriers are in doubt of the age of the recipient of an order they will request some form of ID. In the event that this is not satisfied they are not permitted to leave the wine.
