Speaker profiles

Camille Seghesio
Seghesio Family Vineyards

Camille Seghesio, granddaughter of Edoardo and Angela Seghesio and the newest family addition to the winery team, began managing the winery's export markets in February 2002.

Upon departing for college at Georgetown University, it was clear that Camille was not soon to return to the Home Ranch where she was raised . . . She studied political science, became tri-lingual and lived in South America. Returning to the states, she achieved her Masters in Economics from Stanford and went on to work for Salomon Brothers in New York. Eager to continue her education, she received her MBA from the University of Chicago. Upon graduation, Camille worked for Goldman Sachs in their London equities division.

In 1999, Camille was elected to the winery's Board of Directors and reacquainted herself with the family business. By now, her brother Peter and cousin Ted had dynamically changed the direction and focus of the winery. Export markets were expanding. By 2002, changes in the European distribution network created a need for a manager. Camille's international experience made her a great choice and, conversely, she states, "my dream has always been to work for the family handling the export markets."

Mary Pateras
Eclectic Wines Limited

Eclectic Wines Limited was set up in 2002 by two old friends, Mary Pateras and Eva Maria Boehme, to import and promote fine Greek wines into a discerning UK market.

Mary has been visiting Greece for 30 years and has relished the development in Greek wine making that has occurred over the past 20 years.

Eclectic Wines embraces the challenge to promote Greek Wine. Don't forget that it was in ancient times that the vines were taken from Greece to Marseille and not the other way round! Wine making in Greece is an ancient tradition that lost its way for a long while. Now it is back on track making truly great wines that do justice to any dinner table.

Matt Herde
Plantagenet Wines

Now based for much of the time in New York and the UK , Matt is responsible for all Plantagenet markets in Europe and North America. He is a graduate of Roseworthy College in Australia and started with the company in the winery at Mount Barker in 1993 as marketing manager. He has made wines in Australia and in California.

Natalie Schaefer
Mount Langi Ghiran
Natalie is a native Aussie with a great passion for Australian wine. Until a few weeks ago Natalie was working at the Mount Langi Ghiran winery in Victoria, but is now concentrating on establishing her role of Public Relations Manager for Mount Langi Ghiran in Europe.

Anthony de Jager is a winemaker at the Fairview Estate in Paarl and works with Charles Back, grandosn of the founder of the estate, in formulating their award-winning range of Rhône varieties such as Shiraz, Mourvèdre and Viognier.

Jacqueline Schneider
Bouchard-Finlayson

Jacqueline was born and bred in Hermanus and obtained a degree at Stellenbosch University. She has spent the last ten years in the eine business working firstly for Hamilton Russell Vineyards, then Whale Winery and now Bouchard Finlayson where she has been heavily involved in the production side as assistant to the winemaker Peter Finlayson. Over the last year Jacqueline has become more and more involved in sales and marketing. She is a keen runner and competes in marathon races, including several Comrades marathons, which are considered one of the worlds top marathons.

Emmett, who owns Trencherman & Turner in Eastbourne’s Grove Road – the only fine food outlet in Sussex to feature in Rick Stein’s Food Heroes Directory, has won a wide reputation for the quality of his fare and for his knowledge and enthusiasm since opening in 2002. He trained at Westminster College (which produced the likes of Jamie Oliver, Anthony Worral Thompson and Ainsley Harriot) and has been a chef at the Savoy and in New York. Among a wide range of delicatessen products he specialises in local produce, cheeses and Spanish delicacies.
