In 180 years, the name of Médeville has passed through the generations of vine tradition and has seen it's estate expand, modernise and last. It is in 1826 that Jérôme Médeville , cooper at Cadillac, buys Château Fayau known as a “Chartreuse style house surrounded by 29 acres of vine in one parcel, stone walls and quickset hedges". The next two generations contributed to the expansion of the estate on both sides of the Garonne. In 1908, Numa Médeville, grandson of Jerome, owns 345 acres in which 185 are planted in vines. This enterprising man, besides his responsibilities of “President of the Agricultural Union” of Cadillac, Podensac and the nearby communes, improves Château Fayau with modern constructions and structures. He innovates a new style of wine producing and growing. Today seven generations later, with the same passion it is Marc,Jacques and Jean that manage the estate. Château Fayau is the heart of the estate and controls over 444 acres of vines at the south of Bordeaux and along both banks of the Garonne.
