Glenmore vineyard and farm is situated a few kilometers South of Yallingup in the premier wine zone of South West Australia. Glenmore’s 5 hectare vineyard occupies a small portion of this historic and picturesque property.

The balance of the property is currently an operating cattle farm. The vineyard has valley views to the ocean and is situated in well drained, gravelly, red brown loam over yellow/blue mottled clay. The vineyard is North facing, non irrigated,1,5 kms from the ocean and the beautiful slopes provide the necessary protection from the prevailing winds.

The property is owned by Amy Beers and has been in the family since 1895. The proprietor on the vineyard and Glenmore’s wine maker is Ian Bell, Amy’s grandson. Ian planted the first hectare of Cabernet in 1990, with additional plantings in 1994 and 1999. Currently the vineyard is 3,6 ha of Cabernet Sauvignon and 1,2 ha a combination of Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec.

All pruning, foliage management, fruit thinning (to max 4kg per vine) and picking is performed manually under Ian’s close scrutiny.

Cabernet Sauvignon, 2004
Glenmore

Per item: £16.99

Vibrant, elegant, yet weighty. Excellent depth of flavour and robust tannin structures. Fresh black fruit flavours that have an attractive dusty quality, which has become the trademark Willyabrup character.

Winemaker, Ian, attributes the underlying strength of this wine to the exacting viticultural approach he sees as essential to producing leading wines and distinguishing Glenmore as an emerging label.
