Domaine Gayda is situated south East of Carcassonne in the Languedoc region of South West France. Known traditionally for its large area of vineyards producing volume table wines, things have changed rapidly over the last 5 to 10 years. The revolution of change is in full swing and Domaine Gayda is in the centre of the revolution. The Languedoc is blessed with so many exciting 'terroirs' diverse in soil types, aspect and climate. This diversity is an opportunity to not only grow grapes of outstanding quality, but to work with partner growers throughout this beautiful, diverse region of France. Domaine Gayda and its vineyards all fall under the 'Gayda France' organisation. Based at the winery in Brugairolles, Gayda has 11 hectares of vineyard surrounding the winery, a further 8 hectares are situated around the village of 'La Liviniere', in the foothills of the Black Mountains. Other suppliers come from areas such as Tresserre in Aspres, near the Spanish border, Opoul in the Roussillon over-looking the sea, Fontfroide in the Corbières and Maury in the shadows of Queribus, the famous Cathare castle.

Using delimited fruit from the famous ‘La Clape’ region, this displays a pure varietal character enhanced by judicious use of oak. Heady notes of blackcurrant, spice and violets lead to a smooth, yet brightly fruity palate. The finish will have you looking for the cherry stone! Label design is based on the windsock at Carcassonne Airport! Screwcap closure.

"Sweet and gentle on the palate but quite a framework too presumably thanks to its grape cocktail. Nine months in old French oak. Certainly not hot and heavy." Jancis Robinson
