Tasting note
Half bottle. Beautiful deep ruby colour with plenty of forward fruit, full bodied with a long dry finish. The slight dry finish is typical of La Rosa’s house style. Richard Mayson in his book, 'Port and the Douro', classified La Rosa's Finest Reserve as First Division.

Wine note
Made each year in the traditional manner trodden in granite lagares from grapes grown at Quinta de la Rosa. The Finest Reserve is then blended from our stocks of Port to produce a consistent quality, this blending occurs on a regular basis to ensure that stocks are always fresh.

Producer note: Quinta de la Rosa
In 1988 the Bergqvists, led by Tim and his daughter Sophia, decided to re-launch Quinta de la Rosa, taking advantage of the change in the Port Wine regulations. These changes enabled producers to sell port direct from their estates and not via Vila Nova de Gaia near Porto. Quinta de la Rosa is now a property of about 55 Ha (135 acres) producing about 10,000 cases (160 pipes, 90,000 litres, 23,750 US gallons) of port each year and about 6,000 to 8,000 cases (98-130 pipes, 54,000-72,000 litres, 14,200-19,000 US gallons) of table wine. The Douro valley is steep and rugged with very little flat area for growing vines. The only way to create an area that was possible to plant vines was by terracing. In the past the terraces were all built by hand with loose stone walls holding back the earth. In the 1970s experiments were undertaken with Patamares (bulldozed terracing along contour lines and without supporting walls). Quinta de la Rosa was one of the first Quintas in the Douro to experiment with this type of terracing and installed 6.5 Ha of new terracing in 1973. This terracing was cheaper to install, allowed mechanisation and appeared to be as robust as the traditional walls. Here vines were planted 1.20m apart with 2m between the rows.

Part of the album "The Wall" was recorded at Miraval's own recording studios, thus the name. Grapes are bled for for 3 hours only to give a pale pink colour, with delicate fruit flavours. Very refreshing with a long-lasting taste. Medaille d'Or Paris 2010
